An insider look with employees Neel and Mackenzie.
Vins Plastics has been manufacturing flexible packaging products in Simcoe County since 1977.
Located in Bradford, this third-generation, family-owned company employs 85 people and offers innovative, flexible packaging products. With in-house graphics and state-of-the-art technology, Vins produces a wide range of high-quality products for a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, personal care and cosmetics, and food and beverage.
Their products include innovative stand-up pouches, pharmaceutical sachets, rollstock for granola bars and drinks and more for major brands, such as Simply Protein, Loblaws and Sobeys.
We had the opportunity to speak with two of their staff, who shared their perspectives on working in manufacturing:
“The wonderful thing about working in manufacturing is that you can impact everyone’s life in a positive way. I get to walk in the store and see the products that I’ve worked on,” said Neel Mangroo, Press Operator.
At Vins Plastics, management is focused on empowering their employees to make decisions that will shape the future of the packaging industry.
“I’ve learned so much being here” says Mackenzie Kerr, Production Planning Coordinator. “The manufacturing world is forever changing and advancing, so there is always something new and exciting to learn.”
Kerr also encourages young people to consider a career in manufacturing: “If you want to be part of something from the beginning to the end, and have that satisfaction of being able to see the process go from paper to the actual product, then this is the right field to be working in. It’s like when you’re younger and you watch those ‘how it’s made’ TV shows – the work is just so interesting.”
Neel and Mackenzie both live in Bradford and enjoy working and living in the same community.
“I love working close to home and not having traffic to deal with” said Kerr.
