The 2021 Simcoe Muskoka Virtual Skilled Trades Expo will take the form of a Local and Loud Scavenger Hunt featuring Made in Simcoe County careers and companies.
Join us in shaping the workforce of tomorrow!
The Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo is a longstanding community partnership that sees over 3,000 students try a trade and speak with industry mentors. In the spirit of that annual event, and the continuing work of Skilled Trades Promotion in Simcoe County, the 2021 Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo is going virtual this year!
In previous years, the Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo has been recognized for its vast reach and has made a lasting impression on grade 7 and 8 students. Check out these videos of previous expos!
As part of the new, virtual platform of the Skilled Trades Expo, we will be using the Edge Factor platform to educate students on career paths, and get students excited about careers in the skilled trades!
We encourage all eligible businesses to sign up for a free Edge Factor Company Profile, which will allow students to see what careers are available at your company. The Edge Factor platform will be used by grades 7 and 8 for the purposes of the Skilled Trades Expo, and also is regularly used by high-schools to educate and assist in the career planning process. By creating a company profile in Edge Factor, you will be able to tag the industry you are in, and the videos that include your industry will link to your profile, so that interested students can learn more about your business.
Event Partners: the County of Simcoe, Simcoe County District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, City of Barrie, Township of Springwater, City of Orillia, Georgian College, the Province of Ontario, The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, and the Simcoe Muskoka Workforce Development Board.
